It was important for me to start a mentoring relationship that will naturally continue. In choosing Nicole as my mentee, I first knew that we enjoyed each other's company from our experience teaching together last year. We have a lot in common as educators. We are both hard workers, want what is best for our students, and realize that learning is a journey that never ends. My relationship with Nicole will also continue because we work at the same school. As her Digital Learning Coach, it is my job to support Nicole in her technology needs. My day is focused on supporting teachers via individual meetings, demonstrating technology in lessons, co-planning and co-teaching lessons, and providing staff professional development. I will continue to support Nicole in her EdTech needs and will most likely be in her classroom once a week. I am available to talk in person or via email during Nicole's work day, so I am there when Nicole needs me to be. Nicole and I not only developed a mentoring relationship, but our friendship grew this month. We spend more time outside of work texting and interacting on social media. We both love to laugh and try new things, and we have started to talk about planning outings together. Nicole was the perfect mentee and I am so glad she was willing to work with me as my first mentee!
